Dennis Livesay will grow to be dean of Michigan Technological University’s Higher education of
Computing on Feb. one, 2021.

Livesay arrives to Michigan Tech from Wichita State University (WSU), in which he is dean
of the Higher education of Engineering and a total professor in both of those the Section of Chemistry
and Section of Biomedical Engineering. Livesay replaces outgoing dean Adrienne
Minerick.

“We are happy to welcome Dr. Livesay to the University as our following dean of the Higher education of Computing,” explained Jacqueline Huntoon, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
“The mix of Dr. Livesay’s prior activities and his vision for the future
of the Higher education of Computing make him ideally suited to improve the Higher education heading
ahead.”

“Digital transformation is impacting each market, which includes engineering and manufacturing,”
explained Livesay. “Computing, knowledge, connectivity, and stability are already the cornerstones
of the present day economy. I seem ahead to performing with all people in the Higher education of Computing,
and across campus, to improve our initiatives in these regions.”

Livesay noted that, even though he has been happy in his role at WSU, he noticed the prospect
to lead Michigan’s only college of computing as one he could not pass up. “I seriously
see this as a once-in-a-life time prospect that — given MTU’s standard set up
toughness in engineering — aligns properly with my track record,” he explained.

Livesay brings far more than 20 a long time of expertise in bigger education and learning to Michigan Tech.
His career commenced in 2000 at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, in which
he was assistant and then associate professor of chemistry. From there, he continued
on to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), in which he was a founding
member of the Section of Bioinformatics and Genomics and created two of UNCC’s
most obvious study packages: the bioinformatics and computational biology doctoral
plan and the Charlotte Investigate Students undergraduate study plan.

In 2016, Livesay joined WSU as dean of the Graduate Faculty and associate vice president
of study and technology transfer ahead of becoming dean of the Higher education of Engineering
in January 2019. Livesay’s study know-how is in the area of protein household sequence,
composition and purpose relationships, with a individual emphasis on knowledge how
actual physical and chemical homes change with evolutionary divergence. He has invested his
career performing across disciplinary boundaries and intends to prioritize interdisciplinary
perform in his role as Higher education of Computing dean.

“The University was lucky to bring in a incredibly strong pool of candidates in the course of this
search and I am confident that we have employed the individual who will be best in a position to lead
the Higher education of Computing in the coming a long time,” explained Huntoon. “I want to thank Dr.
Adrienne Minerick for her tenacity and determination to Michigan Tech. She offered fantastic
leadership for the Higher education from the day it arrived into existence. Simply because of her initiatives,
the Higher education is perfectly positioned to expand in the future.”

Born and lifted in Columbus, Indiana, Livesay was a first-technology university student.
He will be joined in Houghton by his spouse, Lauren, and son, Maxwell. “My household and
I are rabid hockey admirers,” Livesay explained, “and we will be large supporters of Michigan
Tech hockey. In reality, I already have an MTU jersey that I’ve started off sporting in the course of
rec league.”

Michigan Technological University is a public study university, residence to far more than
7,000 pupils from fifty four international locations. Established in 1885, the University offers far more than
a hundred and twenty undergraduate and graduate diploma packages in science and technology, engineering,
forestry, enterprise and economics, well being professions, humanities, arithmetic, and
social sciences. Our campus in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula overlooks the Keweenaw Waterway
and is just a couple miles from Lake Excellent.
