Bupa A/NZ has undergone a considerable security transformation program that touched all security domains and was part of a international ability uplift pursued by the health and fitness insurer.

Head of cyber security Jonathan Milton instructed ServiceNow’s Understanding 2021 meeting that the organization embarked on the transformation in 2019, and has had new systems bedded down for amongst six and twelve months.

“Our security transformation was truly wanting to experienced our security posture throughout our ‘identify’, ‘protect’, ‘detect’, ‘recover’ and ‘respond’ security domains,” Milton said.

“By investing in our people today, our system and our technologies capabilities, we sought to raise the waterline of our capability to take care of these threats in line with our possibility urge for food.”

Milton was the director of the A/NZ transformation prior to his current position.

He said the transformation impacted all aspects of IT security at Bupa, like possibility administration, facts loss prevention, intrusion detection and prevention, vulnerability administration (which Bupa phone calls ‘cyber hygiene’), SIEM, swift reaction and forensics, restoration capabilities.

Together with the deployment of new technologies platforms, the transformation was accompanied by a sizeable alter program, specifically close to stakeholder engagement.
